Original contributions on academic and theoretical aspects

For academic and theoretical aspect, the dissertation contributes to the extent literature on the SCHT in the context of Cambodia. For instance, SCHT is widely understood, in which SCHT is perceived as a type of tourism that focuses on preserving CH assets, natural environment, and CH understanding to ensure development for the long-term and next-generation, especially destination at income generation and local communities by integrating relevant stakeholders. Secondly, the propose of a model (3Ps+1C) is considered as original contribution for multi-stakeholders’ perspective to ensure smooth collaboration and SCHT development, in which the role of local people and communities as well as tourists (P-People) needs to be further encouraged, integrated and intensified.

Recommendations derived from the findings of the dissertation 

From the findings, useful recommendations for management and development of SCHT in Cambodia are provided both at national and site level. These recommendations could also be considered as useful for other countries which possesses similar potentials. Moreover, the issue of coopetition in the process of SCHT development could be addressed through the strong role of the public sector, in which the existence of ICC mechanism is considered as efficient coordination platform to ensure smooth discussion, cooperation and work implementation and limiting inconvenient impact from any competition activities of different relevant stakeholders.
